1. Purpose of This Document
This document sets out the identity verification requirements that apply to accounts registered with Swift Current. It explains why verification is required, which documents are accepted, how the process operates, the consequences of incomplete verification, and how submitted information is handled.
This policy applies to all players accessing Swift Current from Canada. It is a compliance document and is not a promotional or product description.
2. Why Identity Verification Is Required
Swift Current operates within a regulated framework that includes obligations under Canadian anti-money laundering legislation, specifically the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA), as well as applicable provincial licensing requirements.
Identity verification serves the following purposes:
- Confirming that the account holder is the person named on the account
- Confirming that the account holder meets the minimum legal age for gambling in the relevant province
- Preventing account fraud, identity theft, and unauthorized account access
- Supporting anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing controls
- Ensuring compliance with responsible gambling obligations, including enforcement of self-exclusion
Verification is not optional. It is a legal and regulatory obligation that applies to all account holders.
3. When Verification Is Required
Swift Current may request identity verification at any of the following points:
- During account registration, before full account functionality is granted
- Before processing a withdrawal request
- When account activity triggers a review under applicable transaction-monitoring rules
- When a player requests changes to account details such as name, address, or payment information
- When enhanced due diligence is required based on account risk profile or transaction patterns
- At any point required by applicable law or regulatory guidance
Players should expect that verification will be required before any withdrawal is processed. Accounts that have not completed verification may have restricted access to certain account functions.
4. Accepted Identity Documents
Swift Current accepts the following documents for identity verification purposes. All documents must be valid, unexpired, and clearly legible.
Primary identity documents (one required):
- Canadian passport
- Provincial driver’s licence
- Provincial photo identification card
Proof of address (may be required separately):
- Utility bill issued within the past 90 days
- Bank statement issued within the past 90 days
- Government-issued correspondence showing the account holder’s name and residential address
Additional documentation (required in specific circumstances):
- Proof of payment method, such as a bank statement or card image, where the payment method used cannot be verified through standard checks
- Source-of-funds documentation, such as a pay stub, tax assessment, or bank statement, where transaction amounts or account activity require enhanced review
Documents must show the account holder’s full legal name and, where applicable, date of birth, and must match the information provided during registration.
5. How the Verification Process Works
5.1 Submission
Players submit documents through the secure document upload function available within the account area. Documents may be submitted as clear photographs or scanned copies. Blurred, cropped, or partially obscured images will not be accepted.
5.2 Review
Swift Current reviews submitted documents within the timeframe stated in the account area at the time of submission. Review times may vary depending on document volume and the complexity of the verification required.
5.3 Outcome
Players will be notified of the outcome of their verification review. Possible outcomes are:
- Verified: The account is confirmed and relevant account functions are enabled or maintained.
- Additional information required: The submitted documents were insufficient or unclear. The player will be informed of what additional documents or information are needed.
- Verification declined: The submitted documents do not satisfy the requirements. The player will be informed of the reason to the extent permitted by applicable law.
5.4 Escalated Review
In some cases, Swift Current may conduct enhanced due diligence. This may involve requesting additional documents, conducting database checks, or applying further review procedures. Players subject to enhanced review will be notified that additional steps are required, though the specific reason for escalation may not always be disclosed where disclosure would conflict with legal obligations.
6. Obligations of the Account Holder
Players are required to:
- Provide accurate and complete information during registration and throughout the account relationship
- Submit documents that genuinely belong to them and accurately represent their identity
- Notify Swift Current promptly if their personal details change, including name, address, or contact information
- Cooperate with verification requests within the timeframe specified in the request
Providing false, altered, or fraudulent documents is a serious breach of these terms, will result in account suspension, and may be reported to relevant authorities.
7. Consequences of Incomplete or Failed Verification
If a player does not complete verification within the required timeframe, or if submitted documents do not satisfy the requirements, Swift Current may:
- Restrict access to withdrawal functions
- Suspend account activity pending completion of verification
- Close the account in accordance with the applicable terms and conditions
Any funds held in a suspended or closed account will be handled in accordance with Swift Current’s account closure procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
8. Data Handling and Privacy
Documents and personal information submitted for verification purposes are processed in accordance with Swift Current’s Privacy Policy. Submitted documents are used solely for identity verification, compliance, and fraud prevention purposes. They are not shared with third parties except where required by law, regulatory obligation, or where a third-party verification service provider is engaged under a data processing agreement.
Players have rights in relation to their personal data as described in the Privacy Policy, including the right to request access to information held about them.
9. Regulatory Context
Swift Current’s identity verification obligations are informed by the PCMLTFA framework administered by FINTRAC, Canada’s federal financial intelligence authority. Applicable thresholds and obligations may also be set by provincial regulators depending on the jurisdiction in which the player is located and the type of account activity involved.
Players with questions about the regulatory basis for a specific verification request may contact Swift Current’s support team using the contact details provided in the Contact section of this site.
10. Contact
